It's been a little while since we released our debut album, "Identity". In the time since, we've been exploring various areas of creativity including a couple music videos and a string of shows all over the West coast. We've strengthened the lineup of the band, and with our new found collective creativity, we’ve been, most importantly, writing new songs. The songwriting process over the last year has really diversified and developed for us resulting in an expanded sound and approach to creation. It has yielded very pleasing and articulate results and we are incredibly excited to give life to these new creations by recording them and letting everyone hear what we've been doing.
Which brings us to the process of recording. Since the inception of the project, it has embodied the spirit of independence and self sufficiency. This has enabled us to be experimental and creative in all ways from music to artwork to business. This mantra enables the potential for limitless creativity and is quite an exciting approach to take. However, independence also finds us responsible for all the non-creative endeavors involved in the business of creating music and delivering it to the people with which it connects. A big part of that responsibility involves the cost of producing music and all else it takes to run a successful band. That's where we need your help.
The next edition of Progressive Underground will be happening at The Dragonfly on October 22nd. This one is going to be special as we are playing with our friends Opus Dai, MAL, and Black Map. The guys in Black Map are coming all the way down from San Francisco for the show, and are then leaving for Europe a few days later to open up for Chevelle.
In addition to the powerful lineup of music, we are lining up some other performance surprises to go with the theme of the season. Make sure to come out to this one!

There are many different ways in which to express creativity, emotion and art. It is as an abstract communication that supersedes the limitations of language as we know it. Equally, and perhaps even exponentially, there are many different ways to receive that connection and interpret the expression within the context of the moment. That moment may vary and differ by physical location, mood, and those with whom we share the experience among a myriad of other possible contextual factors.
Metal Assault wrote a great review of the Progressive Underground show at King King in Hollywood this past week. They praised the strength and diversity of each band as they respectively contributed to the success of the whole night. It is incredibly encouraging for us to hear that the theme and vibe of the whole night resonated harmoniously as we continue to help build a stronger progressive and heavy scene here in Los Angeles. With bands and fans coming togehter, we are extremely excited about the future of the Progressive Underground.
Read what Andrew Bansal of Metal Assault had to say about the show here:
We will be returning to the Hollywood stage on June 26th at King King for an LA Unsigned sponsored show with our friends AFTER and Elixir on Mute. Building on the last show at The Dragonfly, it promises to be a great night of music. Working with LA Unsigned and all friends in talented local bands we are pushing to again create a scene of hard rock and progressive music here in LA. If you're in town, make sure to come and join in.
We are making our return to the stage on May 21st at The Dragonfly in Hollywood. We'll be revealing some new songs as well as some updated live production, so anyone in the Los Angeles area make sure to come out and say hi. See you there!

I’m taking a break from the run of previous blog posts about self analysis and progression to reflect upon some news that passed a couple weeks ago within the realm of progressive rock and metal. The same realm in which the musical side of Socionic exists. That news being the departure of Katatonia’s drummer, Daniel Liljekvist from the band.
In nearly every sliver of warming light my conscious turns away, averting its gaze to the cold comfort of darkness. Even amidst its enchanting matras, it fears the light of progression for all the change and new consideration that it brings. The friction of evolution, the uncertainty of progression, the possibility to fail. The progressive ideal is easy to recite, to echo out in self justification, but the embodiment of such is a far different undertaking.
